Prostate enlargement in men is a condition called as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). It causes severe urinary symptoms like frequent urination, poor stream of urine, sense of incomplete voiding etc.
As the name indicates TURP is performed by visualizing the prostate through the urethra and removing tissue by electrocautery or sharp dissection. A triple lumen catheter is inserted through the urethra to irrigate and drain the bladder after the surgical procedure is complete
